You Are Not Alone!

New beginnings do not come with ease, like sleep in winter. When we see the green leaf shooting out, we do not always remember the cold winter when the tree was bare and there was no fruit. But spring has a way of making us forget how harsh winter was.
I am walking into a new season in my private life, having made some big changes. I was doing it alone, until I wasn't. I was reminded that I have someone for me. I am not alone.
I started to think about that and said, “Tjo, who am I there for?” It is easy to become so concerned with our own wellbeing that we start living in a box of self. But once we come out of that place, when our eyes lift from ourselves, we begin to see that we can be useful earthlings. We can help others as they navigate this thing called life.
What a pleasure and joy it is to be part of someone's journey in a positive and meaningful way. Sometimes, we need to remember that life is not only about what we are going through. There is someone else who may need our encouragement, our presence, our kindness or simply the reminder that they are not alone either.
I am not alone. Do you know who stands for you and with you?
Sometimes it is seasonal, and that is okay. People may be here today and gone tomorrow. Then there are those who have forged their names into your life over years of loyalty. Surprisingly, there are also those who appear later in your life, maybe two years or a few years ago, and yet they are for you and will stick by you. That is golden.
Life is meant to flourish with love, support and togetherness. As we step into new seasons, may we not become so focused on ourselves that we forget to look around and see who we can walk with, encourage and love along the way.
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour.” — Ecclesiastes 4:9
