A September Baby 😊

September is my birth month, and today is officially Spring Day in South Africa. I quite like that. A new season arriving in the month I was born. I am sitting on my couch in the lounge after an interesting morning. I had an encounter with someone from my past who fished me out after almost two years of silence. And you know what was interesting? It felt like where I left them is where they were still at. I had explicitly told this person that I had changed and grown. Not because I was boasting, but because I had noticed it in myself. My thought patterns were changing. My habits were changing. Some of the things I once thought were good for me, I had come to realize were not. And I respected myself enough to walk away from them.
But this person didn't believe me. They still spoke to me as though I was the old Tsitsi.
And in my head, I made a conscious decision not to get too close or too friendly with this person. Not because I hate them or wish them badly. But because they know the old me, and the old me does not work for where I am going.Have you ever found yourself entertaining interactions that keep pulling you back towards an old version of yourself? I was thinking about turning 42 in 18 days, and I realised that as I grow, even in age, I want to be intentional about my daily life. Because life is in the daily. We don't know how many days are left on our calendars, so I want to live intentionally, expectantly and honestly.
I am grateful that I have grown, and that I am still growing. I am also grateful for the good relationships I have with my loved ones. I cherish these relationships so much. The people who know who you are becoming, who don't keep dragging you back to who you were, are precious. As spring is springing, may your September be full of blossoms in every area of your life. May God grant you the desires of your heart, and may you witness the good plans He said He has for you. I am also moving into a new place at the end of September, so there is quite literally a new chapter unfolding. And I am looking forward to it.
So, as we enter this new season, be careful about what you carry with you. Some things belong to winter. Some people belong to a previous chapter. And some parts of you have simply served their purpose and need to be left behind.
Keep growing.
Be good to your heart. ❤️
love
